Aaron M. Thornburg is first & foremost a lover of all things Guatemalan. In 2000, he fell in love with Guatemala as an intern at La Fundación del Bosque Tropical. Over the past decade he’s led 150+ Seattle University business students to Guatemala for international immersion experiences, & he is an international faculty member at Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala City. 

But in his free time, he is a Spanish language enthusiast, an attorney, a professor, a proud father, an investor in multi-family real estate, a 501c3 founder & board member … & an unpaid intern at his wife’s Seattle-based company, SkinnyDipped. 

Aaron founded On The Ground Impact which helps sustainable grassroots projects regenerate societies & the environment, & partners directly with Poder Y Luz Maya to bring environmentally friendly technologies to sustainably support rural communities in the Guatemalan northern highlands. Aaron is passionate about helping people become empowered – especially in marginalized communities – so they may transform their communities & lives, & live with dignity, purpose, & impact. Aaron spends at least a month a year in Guatemala working on various projects, but otherwise splits time between Seattle, WA, Santa Fe, NM & Tofino, British Columbia on Vancouver Island.
